With deep legal expertise and sharp financial insight, we help our clients mitigate risk, optimize case selection, and maximize litigation value.

Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic, litigation-savvy Class Action Underwriting Consultation Attorney to join our growing team. This role is critical in performing legal due diligence and offering expert consultation on the viability, structure, and potential exposure of emerging and active class action cases.

The ideal candidate combines rigorous legal analysis with practical business judgment to support underwriting decisions and drive intelligent litigation investment strategies. You will serve as a key advisor to both internal and external stakeholders, assessing complex legal claims and crafting actionable recommendations that inform underwriting outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze causes of action, certification risks, procedural posture, and likely defenses.
  • Draft case assessments, risk memos, and strategic recommendations for underwriting teams and clients.
  • Review complaints, pleadings, judicial rulings, and supporting documentation for legal and strategic merit.
  • Collaborate with internal analysts to align legal assessments with financial modeling and exposure scenarios.
  • Provide consultative input on class definitions, jurisdictional risks, damage methodologies, and trial posture.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends in class action law, including emerging statutes, case law, and regulatory developments.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on underwriting standards for class action litigation across multiple verticals (consumer protection, antitrust, securities, data privacy, employment, etc.).
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of litigation experience, including 1+ years in class action or complex civil litigation.
  • Strong understanding of Rule 23 requirements and class certification dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess legal risk and communicate complex litigation strategies to non-attorney stakeholders.
  • Experience working with litigation funders, claims administrators, or plaintiff-side firms is highly preferred.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and case synthesis skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple concurrent case assessments in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
  • Strategic mindset with a commitment to accuracy, clarity, and client service.
