Duties
The U.S. Attorney's Office is currently seeking to fill an Appellate/Criminal AUSA position. This AUSA will represent the U.S. Attorney's Office in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, provide trial assistance to other AUSAs, and otherwise assist other AUSAs with complex legal issues in the district court. This AUSA will be located in the Criminal Division of our office and will also be responsible for prosecuting violations of federal and territorial law, such as immigration, drugs, firearms, public corruption, white collar crime, and violent crime. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof. Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 3 years post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. Proof of active bar membership is required. United States citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: Strong academic credentials, superior legal research and writing skills, quick analytical ability to accurately and precisely articulate critical case-related issues, courtroom experience, good interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a supportive and professional team environment with client agencies, support staff and other attorneys, and a demonstrated commitment to public service. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience litigating federal appellate matters. You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement. Number of Positions: One. As needed, additional positions may be filled using this announcement. Travel: 1 to 5 nights of travel required per month, on average and may vary. Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $67,863 to $148,202. The locality for Virgin Islands is 17.06% and the Cola is 11.88%.
