Job Description

Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) has a simple mission: Care. No Matter What. PPLM has been a leader in promoting sexual health for more than 90 years and we strongly believe that all people deserve care no matter who they are, where they live, or who they love. As the state’s leading provider of sexual and reproductive health services, we educate families and empower youth to make responsible choices. We do all this because we care passionately about helping people lead healthier lives.

With more than 600 health centers across the country, Planned Parenthood organizations serve all patients with care and compassion, with respect, and without judgment, striving to create equitable access to health care. Through health centers, programs in schools and communities, and online resources, Planned Parenthood is a trusted source of reliable education and information that allows people to make informed health decisions.

POSITIONSUMMARY:
Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund seeks a legal intern to support legal research and advocacy efforts. The intern will primarily focus on conducting legal research, drafting legal memoranda, and contributing to areas about the legal research project on minors’ abortion access. The project's aim is to examine how the Dobbs decision has affected the judicial bypass process, using qualitative interviews and purposive national sample. The study will perform anonymous interviews with professionals who participate in the judicial bypass process, including attorneys, court clerks, and care navigators to evaluate whether the post-Dobbs environment has contributed to increased obstacles or stigmatization for teens seeking court authorization for an abortion. Through this project, PPLM aims to develop a new body of research focused on access to abortion, parental involvement laws, and the legal issues minors face when traveling for out-of-state abortion care. The intern will also assist in the creation of materials to disseminate the findings of the research to a wide audience of lawmakers, health care providers, advocacy organizations, and other stakeholders, as well as through scholarly publications and articles.
