Eckert Seamans is a full-service national law firm with a strong reputation and history of success that spans more than 65 years. With approximately 300 lawyers across a network of 14 offices, we provide clients with proactive, solution-oriented business and litigation counsel. We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant for our Pittsburgh office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Preparation of legal documents such as letters and correspondence
- Timely management and processing of original estate planning documents in accordance with Firm procedures and maintaining database records
- Compiling exhibits for Orphans’ Court filings, family settlement agreements and other matters
- General utilization and submission of clerical and administrative forms such as check requests and expense reports
- Coordination of conference calls, video conferences and other interpersonal communication as requested
- Preparation of mailings
- Coordination of large-scale document jobs with Office Services
- As requested per attorney daily monitoring of deadlines, calendars, voicemails, answering of phone
- Provide corporate transactional support with respect to entity formation and other fundamental transactions such as mergers and, dissolutions
- Maintain physical and electronic client files
- Copying and scanning of documents
- Provide general assistance firmwide as a member of the legal support team as needed
- Open and closing of client matters
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Skills/Abilities
- Strong verbal and written skills including the ability to interact with clients
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of various types of Estate Planning documents
- Knowledge of Orphan Court Matters and processes
- Knowledge of the Estate Administration Process Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to function well in a high paced environment
- Knowledge of legal terminology and U.S legal system preferred
- Aptitude for learning new applications, systems and processes
- Proficient with Microsoft Office365 and Adobe
- Proficient with document management systems, iManage preferred
- Proficient with redlining, track changes, table of authorities and table of contents preferred
Education and Experience:
- High school degree or equivalent required; college degree preferred
- Minimum two years of experience as an assistant, preferably in a law firm environment.
- Previous experience in estate planning, probate, or trust administration is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
Must be able to stand, walk, carry, push, pull, reach, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, grasp, and kneel
Travel expectation:
Occasional local travel with attorney to serve as witness for document executions at a client’s residence
