Role:  Legal Contract Specialist      

Location: Wilmington, DE

We are hiring an experienced Legal Specialist (Paralegal) for our Legal Team, based in the Wilmington office, and reporting directly to our Chief Intellectual Property Counsel.   This is a hybrid role requiring three (3) days per week in our beautiful offices.

The legal specialist will be part of a global legal department. This role will primarily work with the Intellectual Property team on various IP related agreements and provide additional support to other members within the Legal Department. Responsibilities include managing the company’s web-based contract request site; organizing and maintaining electronic files in a web-based document management system (Memotech and SalesForce); collecting data related to issuance of contracts (IP-related and commercial), gathering relevant information and assist in the drafting of legal agreements..  Additional responsibilities will include overseeing the legal department’s e-billing process and managing physical files. This candidate must have the ability to work autonomously with some legal supervision.  Strong proofreading skills and prior demonstration of managing deadlines, contract lifecycle management and handling multiple matters with deadlines is required.   

 

Job Summary:

  • Draft and/or review IP licenses, confidentiality agreements, and other contracts, as needed
  • Serve as primary point of contact for business clients requiring contracts
  • Collaborate and partner with other members of the Legal team to help improve current processes and be comfortable with establishing new processes for improved efficiencies
  • Work independently with others across all business functions, such as Marketing, R&D, and Finance in support of contract needs
  • Must be able to work independently but thrive in a collaborative group environment
  • Run and analyze contract reports in support of contract initiatives
  • Ensure completion of contracts in a timely manner
  • Proofread, edit, and fact-check legal documents for accuracy and consistency
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an approved ABA school or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years experience as a paralegal/specialist/manager in a corporate legal department
  • Proficiency with all office computer technology, including but not limited to Chrome, Edge, and MS Office Suite (focusing specifically on Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word)

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 7-10 years experience as a contract paralegal/specialist/manager in a corporate legal department
  • Experience with Saleforce (contract management) and Memotech (IP management) sytems
  • Background in intellectual property including trademarks, copyrights and patents a plus
