Who You’ll Work With

The Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Government Affairs department is a diverse team comprised of attorneys and other professionals providing high quality advisory and transactional support with integrity and objectivity across all parts of the organization. The team ensures an operating environment that minimizes legal, regulatory and reputational risks and complies with all laws and regulations and Corebridge policies and procedures. As a member of this team, which has received industry recognition for its leadership and innovative solutions, and you will have the opportunity to participate in the Corebridge pro bono program.

About The Role

This position will report to the Chief Litigation Counsel, providing strategic management of parent-level litigation, reinsurance arbitration matters, shareholder demands/complaints and significant commercial litigation matters.  This position will own and manage various internal and public financial reporting obligations as well as independently manage an array of executive consumer complaints and litigation matters across the life and retirement business lines.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have approximately 10 years of litigation experience, preferably both at a law firm and as in-house for an insurance company.  The candidate’s responsibilities will include managing a litigation docket consisting of claims and general litigation matters, providing legal advice and guidance to business partners, preparing and maintaining accurate and complete reports and schedules for litigation matters, and providing legal support and assistance as needed to track, analyze and report on legislative and regulatory developments, as well as industry trends that may impact business units. The candidate will be responsible for managing and developing other paralegals and attorneys.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong academic background and B.S./B.A. and J.D.
  • Current admission to practice law in Texas or New York or New Jersey.
  • 10 years of experience in commercial litigation with insurance coverage, bad faith, and/or life insurance litigation experience preferred.
  • Experience working with internal senior business stakeholders
  • In-house experience useful but not required.

Work Location

This position can be based in either Corebridge Financial’s Houston, TX office and is subject to our hybrid working policy, which gives colleagues the benefits of working both in an office and remotely.

Estimated Travel

Minimal to moderate travel, as dictated by significant litigation events requiring in house counsel attendance such as trial and arbitration hearings, to name a few.
