Job Description
Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP has an immediate opening for a Legal Assistant in our busy Corporate practice. The successful candidate should have strong technical, organizational and problem-solving skills and demonstrate an excellent customer-service attitude. More complex tasks may be assigned under supervision and with appropriate training.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain attorney contacts in Interaction
- Manage and maintain attorney schedules and calendars
- Schedule conference calls using Microsoft Teams and Zoom
- Perform conflict searches, prepare engagement letters and open new client matters
- Maintain CLE records for attorneys
- Assist attorneys with daily time entry
- Review and revise client pre-bills, and submit final invoice drafts to Accounting to send to client
- Provide back-up assistance to other Legal Assistants, Paralegals, and colleagues
- Format, edit, print, scan and file documents
- Investigate inquiries providing timely responses
- Prepare and submit attorney expense reports
- Logistical preparation for meetings, conference calls, including conference room reservations for in-house meetings, meal orders, technology needs, reminders to attendees, etc.
- Liaison with all internal departments on behalf of the attorneys
- Complete special projects as directed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least five (5) years of experience, or equivalent experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
- Law firm experience required
- Experience using Aderant legal billing software
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as proficiency in formatting documents using Styles
- Working knowledge of FileSite/iManage
- Demonstrate proficiency with driving administrative tasks including heavy calendaring, travel arrangements, coordinating meetings, conference calls, etc.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective time management with ability to multi-task and shift priorities successfully to meet necessary deadlines
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong client service skills and the ability to follow client specific protocols
- Professional demeanor with enthusiastic attitude
- Current commission as a notary public in Georgia and/or the willingness to obtain notary public commission within 3 months of employment
