This position may be filled in a hybrid capacity in any of our office locations.

The Toxic Tort Specialist is responsible for providing PST Specialists, attorneys, paralegals or paralegal assistants with assistance in managing administrative tasks, database management, case organization, overall client service and special projects related to Mass Tort matters. Essential functions include:

  • Processes new client/matter intake: Prepares and processes new matter forms, requests conflict checks, and opens new files.   
  • Assists with saving and profiling pleadings and other documents in document management system and database.
  • Assists with creating and organizing notebooks, large mailings, and file organization.
  • Maintain trial and various other tracking charts.
  • Prepare materials for filings, depositions, and hearings.
  • Perform electronic filing of pleadings.
  • Learn and develop proficiency in database use and management.
  • Assist with electronic file maintenance and managing database information for complex cases.
  • Maintain and analyze database(s) for incomplete or inaccurate information.
  • Proactively demonstrates effective teamwork and communication with team members and all Firm personnel. Actively participates in regular team meetings to discuss current projects and workflow. Takes personal responsibility for regularly exchanging information and training tips with team members for maximum job effectiveness.
  • Updates project log with pending and completed tasks.
  • Operates office equipment including PCs, printers, phones, copiers, facsimiles and typewriters.
  • Copes successfully with office demands, remaining calm under pressure.
  • Conducts all business in a confidential manner.
  • Distributes and manages technology devices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Position-Specific Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; 2-year degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology.
  • Knowledge of electronic filing procedures preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize workflow and manage time.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:

  • State of California: $60,000 - $114,000
  • State of Colorado: $55,000 - $98,000
  • State of Illinois: $54,000 - $105,000
  • State of Massachusetts: $60,000 - $114,000
  • State of Minnesota: $60,000 - $99,000
  • Washington, D.C.: $77,000 - $113,000

The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
