NATURE OF WORK: Under general supervision performs paraprofessional work of moderate difficulty in a variety of legal secretarial and office duties; performs related duties as required or assigned. - Essential Functions
TYPICAL DUTIES: (Illustrative Only) Formats and types letters, memoranda, and various legal documents from copy, rough draft and dictating machine; files documents with the appropriate court; prepares confidential and sensitive documents; composes letters and routine court pleadings for lawyers; processes and logs incoming documents; interviews petitioners; provides disclosure information to attorneys; maintains calendars.
- Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) years experience as a legal secretary; OR, an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities of this classification; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license if position duties require; must type 60 wpm if position duties require.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Considerable knowledge of:
- legal terminology and legal forms.
- business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammatical usage;
- modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- taking and transcribing of dictation;
- operating professional level word processing systems;
- data collection through personal interviews.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed under general supervision. Incumbent generally performs work in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Requires travel to other county locations as needed.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, fine motor skills, ability to communicate.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting majority of time; walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills are important
