Hawley Troxell is seeking an experienced Legal Services Supervisor to lead a team of legal support staff. This role involves overseeing daily workflow, managing staff performance, coaching and training staff, ensuring the accurate preparation of legal documents, and maintaining compliance with legal procedures and firm policies. Successful candidates must have strong leadership skills, legal support experience, and a solid understanding of legal terminology and procedures. Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assists in hiring and training internal support staff for the legal department.
- Oversees the day-to-day workflow of the department.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the daily work of legal support staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, providing feedback, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Training staff on work procedures, legal terminology, and relevant software, as well as providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
- Assisting with and overseeing the preparation and management of legal documents, including drafting, formatting, and filing.
- Conducting or assisting with legal research, ensuring accuracy and relevance to case requirements.
- Maintaining and managing case files, ensuring proper organization and accessibility of information.
- Ensuring compliance with legal regulations, company policies, and office procedures.
- Coordinating the administrative functions of the legal office, including managing records, developing filing systems, and potentially contributing to budget development and tracking.
- Addressing and resolving complex work issues, troubleshooting process problems, and developing solutions to improve efficiency.
- Maintaining clear and effective communication with team members, attorneys, and other stakeholders.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of court and administrative proceedings and legal terminology.
- Strong leadership, delegation and team management skills.
- Superior proficiency in administrative tasks.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree, 60 hours of college work, or paralegal certification required.
- At least six years of progressively responsible experience in a legal department or similar department with at least one year of supervisory or lead responsibility.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
