Job Summary
 
As In-House Counsel you will advise and guide the leaders of Pivotal Housing Partners with respect to real estate transactions, policies and procedures, contractual obligations, asset management, fair housing claims and litigation. With your client being the Company, we think you will be best suited for the position if you feel rewarded when using your knowledge and abilities to minimize organizational risk and create enterprise value.

Applications for these skills will include
 
  • Draft, review, and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, easements, entitlements, development agreements, side agreements, vendor contracts, leases and joint venture agreements.
  • Manage litigation and fair housing claims including proposing new litigation strategies.
  • Mitigate risks by implementing company-wide policies and procedures, including conducting training for team members.
  • Complete legal research for operations team including creating, reviewing and revising legal forms used for affordable housing projects.
  • Detail for team members and third parties the Company’s compliance and risk management best practices.
  • Coordinate relationships with outside counsel where needed.
  • Train and work with the paralegal team to achieve the above.
  • Support the General Counsel and perform additional related tasks as needed.
 
Required Qualifications
 
  • 2+ years of experience in real estate or litigation practice.
  • Member in good standing with a State accredited bar.
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
 
Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Experience as an associate attorney in a law firm real estate practice.
  • Knowledge of contract drafting and management
  • Litigation management experience
  • Strong business mindset and real estate acumen
