Job Description

Our Seattle office has an excellent opportunity for a Paralegal to support transactional attorneys in our growing Real Estate team. This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Office Administrator. 

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, and possess strong communication skills. A commitment to client service with strong attention to detail is essential as is excellent project management skills. This position works under the supervision of attorneys and is eligible for a hybrid work in-office/work from home schedule. The successful candidate should anticipate being in the office a minimum of two (2) days a week depending on team needs and workload. The successful candidate may support attorneys in our other BakerHostetler offices as well as Seattle based attorneys.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver outstanding work and client service, enhancing the Firm’s reputation for excellence in commercial real estate transactions.
  • Prepare and review complex legal documents for commercial real estate closings, including purchase and sale agreements, closing binders, title insurance policies, endorsements, deeds, bills of sale, assignments, and related instruments.
  • Assist in preparing initial drafts of key commercial real estate documents, such as access agreements, leases and purchase and sale agreements.
  • Conduct thorough title and survey reviews, identifying and resolving issues related to encumbrances, easements, zoning, and other matters affecting property ownership and use.
  • Draft clear, concise, and accurate written communications, including closing statements, trust receipts, payment documentation, wire transmittal letters, and correspondence with clients, title companies, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate execution and delivery of closing documents, assist in closing processes, and perform post-closing tasks such as recordation, updating title, and preparing document files and binders.
  • Coordinate closings and other aspects of deal execution with attorneys, title companies and other key stakeholders.
  • Proactively communicate to balance team workload and ensure timely, high-quality completion of projects.
  • Anticipate and address peripheral needs related to commercial real estate transactions.
  • Other duties as requested and assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate is preferred; equivalent combination of education, training and experience may substitute for preferred education. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in commercial real estate, with a focus on drafting transactional documents, significant experience with complex title and survey review, and managing a high volume of commercial real estate closings is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft professional correspondence and reports for attorneys, clients, and third parties.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with partners, attorneys, clients, and staff.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems (e.g., NetDocs). Expertise in Word styles, track changes, and document comparison is required. Experience with AI tools is a plus.

The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $81,896.52 - $122,499.53. The salary offered will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to experience level, education/training, and relevant skills.
