Job Description

This is an excepted service appointment under the Pathways Recent Graduates Program. This appointment is a one year career development program. At the successful completion of the program requirements, you may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a Federal career or career-conditional appointment. Duties If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for management of the finances pertaining to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Incumbent will provide technical assistance by serving as a point of contact for purchase card obligations and reconciliation, assist with processing invoices, and serve as the Transit Coordinator in the transit subsidy program. Typical work assignments includes assisting with: Reviewing obligations, expenditures, unobligated orders and available balances to ensure they are properly maintained, supported, and documented. Reviewing and reconciliation of data to ensure obligations contain sufficient funds for payment of invoices. Verification of input data into financial databases for accuracy and compliance with obligation procedures. Reconciliation of purchase card charges for supplies, equipment, and other miscellaneous expenses to ensure charges are appropriate in accordance with regulatory requirements. Assisting team members with purchase card reconciliation in financial database systems. Serving as a coordinator in a transit subsidy program. -Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Each grade has 10 step rates and GS employees are usually hired at step one of the applicable GS grade level at which the applicant qualified. The salary range for a GS-5 in San Francisco, California is $50,420- $65,540 (step 1 through step 10). This position has a full-performance level of GS-7. Salary

Qualifications To be eligible for a recent graduate appointment, ALL of the following requirements must be met: Recent Graduates must have obtained a qualifying associates, bachelors, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying accredited educational institution within the previous 2 years unless military service interfered with a veteran's eligibility to apply during that two year time frame. Veterans meeting the above exclusion may apply within 2 years of discharge or 6 years from the date of receipt of the degree whichever comes first. (Go to http://www.ed.gov/accreditation?src=rn to verify accreditation status). Recent graduates must be United States citizens or owe permanent allegiance to the United States. (Currently, natives of American Samoa, Swains Island and certain inhabitants of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands are the only groups that owe permanent allegiance to the United States.) You must successfully complete a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment. All recent graduates are required to sign a Pathways Recent Graduate Participant Agreement. Recent Graduates serve a trial period for the entire duration of their excepted service appointment. Qualification requirements as outlined below: GS-5: To be eligible at the GS-5 level, you must have: at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level; or four years of education above the high school level; or a combination of both specialized experience and education as explained below. Specialized experience is defined as experience with entering, modifying, and correcting financial information in a computerized accounting system; researching or investigating problems or errors requiring reconciling incomplete information; processing payments, obligations, vouchers, and invoices for goods and services; maintaining and organizing office files. Combining Education and Experience: Successfully completed post-high school education may be used to meet the total one year of specialized experience requirement equivalent to the GS-4 grade level. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Note: In order to be considered "qualified" for this position, your specialized experience must be described in your resume. If your specialized experience is not clearly stated in your resume, you may not be considered for this position. Education All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at an institution that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications.
