Typical projects range from a few million dollars to $1B+. If you enjoy being close to the work, partnering with project teams, and owning matters end‑to‑end, this role is for you. COLLABORATION & GROWTH
- You’ll work closely with the General Counsel, gaining visibility into high‑level strategy while getting real, hands‑on experience, learning directly in the flow of the work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Draft, negotiate, and manage construction agreements and other business contracts.
- Advise project teams on contract terms and risk allocation; support procurement and contract administration.
- Support early resolution of project issues.
- Support operational needs across the business including forms, playbooks, and trainings.
- Provide general legal counsel on corporate, commercial, real estate, compliance, and employment matters.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
REQUIREMENTS:
- J.D. from an accredited law school; bar admission in at least one U.S. state; California admission or Registered In‑House Counsel eligibility strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of experience including significant work with construction contracts and construction disputes (public works experience preferred; federal projects experience a plus).
- Travel as needed (generally <15%).
What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months)
- Build relationships with project leadership.
- Standardize contract forms and key negotiation positions.
- Reduce cycle time in negotiations.
- Proactively resolve job issues before they escalate; track outcomes and lessons learned.
