Job Description
Duties

The New York State Legislative Ethics Commission, established by Section 80 of the Legislative Law, seeks a full-time Associate Counsel. The position is based in Albany, NY.

Duties of this position include:

•Assisting the Executive Director/Counsel and Deputy Director/Counsel in providing guidance, assistance, and training relating to the ethics laws to members of the legislature and their staff;
•Conducting legal research and preparing memos on relevant areas of Public Officers Law;
•Reviewing and examining statutory annual financial disclosure filings.

Salary
  • $75,000 - $85,000/year
Qualifications

Candidates must be admitted to the New York State Bar. Strong research and written communication skills are required. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive materials. Employees of the Legislative Ethics Commission must maintain political neutrality and are not permitted to engage in political activity.

Other Information

This position is Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week, 9:00AM-5:00PM.

Salary range is $75,000 to $85,000, commensurate with experience.
