This key legal role supports both commercial and residential real estate transactions, providing expert guidance throughout the closing process, resolving complex title and escrow issues, and ensuring full compliance with Missouri regulations. As a visible representative of US Title, this position engages directly with clients, industry professionals, and community partners to foster trust, deliver exceptional service, and strengthen our presence in the Missouri market.
Key Responsibilities
Legal & Title Expertise
- Conduct and review detailed title searches, legal descriptions, and public records.
- Identify and resolve title defects, liens, encumbrances, and vesting issues.
- Collaborate with underwriters to issue accurate title commitments and policies.
- Provide legal interpretation and guidance on complex closing matters.
Escrow Advisory & Regulatory Compliance
- Advise on escrow procedures and closing requirements specific to Missouri.
- Ensure strict compliance with Missouri title insurance regulations and escrow laws.
- Support internal audits and maintain adherence to company and regulatory standards.
Client & Community Engagement
- Represent US Title in local industry events and community initiatives.
- Foster strong relationships with stakeholders to enhance market presence and trust.
Team Enablement & Process Improvement
- Provide real-time legal support and feedback to escrow and title teams across the region.
- Communicate updates to policies and procedures effectively.
- Contribute to the development of streamlined workflows and best practices.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law in Missouri.
- 5-10 years of experience in title, escrow, or real estate law, with a focus on Missouri commercial and residential transactions.
- Missouri Title Agent license or ability to obtain one.
- Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and title software platforms
