Managing Attorney - White Plains, NY
Agility 360 is seeking a highly experienced Managing Attorney to take full responsibility of our client's New York default and foreclosure practice. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will independently manage litigation strategy, compliance, case progression, client communication, and overall operational efficiency. You will serve as the primary attorney for all New York default matters, working closely with a dedicated Paralegal and firm leadership. The ideal candidate is a self-directed New York attorney with deep foreclosure/default litigation experience who thrives in a lean environment and is comfortable running a practice end-to-end.
Job Responsibilities:
Practice Ownership & Legal Execution
- Manage all aspects of New York foreclosure/default cases from intake to resolution
- Develop and execute litigation strategies for contested and uncontested matters
- Draft, review, and approve pleadings, motions, affidavits, settlements, and correspondence
- Oversee default judgment processes, case timelines, and overall file progression
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all New York state/federal foreclosure laws and court procedures
- Follow client, investor, and agency requirements applicable to default servicing
- Stay current on NY regulatory updates and implement necessary process adjustments
- Identify and mitigate legal, procedural, and compliance risks proactively
Workflow Oversight & Paralegal Management
- Supervise and guide a dedicated Paralegal, ensuring accuracy and quality control
- Establish efficient workflows, procedures, and case management practices
- Balance volume, deadlines, and quality in a fast-paced foreclosure practice
Client Communication & Representation
- Serve as primary point of contact for all New York default clients
- Communicate case updates, strategies, risks, and recommendations clearly
- Represent clients at court conferences, hearings, and contested proceedings
Process Improvement & Firm Collaboration
- Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency
- Partner with firm leadership and other jurisdictions to maintain consistency in practice standards
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active New York State Bar license, in good standing
- 6-8 years experience in NY foreclosure, default servicing, or creditors’ rights matters
- Strong working knowledge of New York foreclosure procedures, litigation timelines, and court requirements
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently with minimal infrastructure or administrative support
- Prior experience as a Managing Attorney, Lead Attorney, or Sole Practitioner preferred
- Knowledge of investor/agency guidelines (FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA)
- Exceptional organization and attention to detail
- Excellent legal judgment and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to make independent decisions with full accountability
