Key Responsibilities
- Draft family law pleadings, petitions for dissolution, parenting plans, child support worksheets, financial affidavits, and property settlement agreements.
- Direct the financial discovery process, including subpoenaing, organizing, and analyzing financial records (tax returns, bank statements, business valuations, and asset/debt documentation).
- Coordinate mandatory disclosures and handle traditional discovery, including drafting interrogatories and requests for production tailored to domestic relations.
- Serve as a primary, compassionate point of contact for clients, maintaining clear communication while setting professional boundaries during emotional proceedings.
- Liaise with third-party professionals, including forensic accountants, real estate appraisers, Guardians ad Litem, and custody evaluators.
- Prepare comprehensive case files, trial binders, financial summaries, and exhibit lists for temporary relief hearings, mediations, and trials.
- Assist attorneys in real-time during court hearings, trials, and mediations, including exhibit management and client support.
- Track court dockets, manage attorney calendars, and ensure strict compliance with procedural deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate.
- High emotional intelligence, discretion, and exceptional communication skills suited for sensitive, high-stress client dynamics.
- Outstanding organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, particularly when managing complex financial data.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of dedicated experience as a paralegal in family law or domestic relations.
- Proficiency with family law software (e.g., state child support calculators, financial affidavit tools, and eDiscovery management).
- Deep understanding of local family court procedures, mandatory financial disclosure rules, and electronic court filing systems.
