1. High School diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Five (5) years experience in hospital finance/revenue cycle and/or bachelor's degree in lieu of experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field.
2. Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) with the Hospital Financial Management Association (HFMA) is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Two (2) years direct supervision of associates.

1. Plans, organizes, and directs business processes related to financial counseling within multi-campus, multi-organizational health system.
2. Acts as primary financial counseling contact for WVU Medicine.
3. Develops and/or actively participates in on-going policy and procedure reviews and revisions to Financial Counseling processes to ensure timely, accurate counseling procedures.
4. Manages assigned projects to benefit the enterprise revenue cycle team.
5. Ensures best practices and policies are followed.
6. Monitors system reports and dashboards daily to ensure targets and being met and identifying areas of need for each facility.
7. Sets solid analytical goals and directs team to achieve those goals using specific, targeted, data driven tactics.
8. Management of department personnel to ensure qualified work force. Ensure regular communication with team to ensure that employee needs are met and that the productivity and engagement of staff is maintained.
9. Works within budgeted expenses and participate in development and management of enterprise departmental budget.
10. Gathers statistics, completes reports, and performs other duties as scheduled or requested.
11. Organizes and executes daily tasks in appropriate priority to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency, adjusting daily schedule as required to perform urgent assignments or special projects as assigned.
12. Communication is the key to our success. Ensures regular, bi-directional communication with the Enterprise PFAS team. Share challenges and seek collaborative solutions to maximize results utilizing the intellectual capital of the team.
13. Coordinates with pharmaceutical companies, hospital departments, and patients to ensure completion of assistance programs.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Ability to accurately utilize applicable computer software and equipment for access processing & demonstrates ability to follow down time procedures.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of procedure to report and/or document unsafe/hazardous conditions, incidents and defective equipment in compliance with hospital policy.
3. Requires ability to perform repetitious duties throughout the shift.
4. Requires considerable attention to detail, the ability to be organized and to be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
5. Requires the ability to memorize a considerable amount of information, and to be able to reference information not retained from written sources or from appropriate personnel.
6. Requires the ability to understand medical insurance requirements for payment and basic knowledge of covered services.
7. Must be able to provide information on demand, at times taking requests from several sources.
8. Must be able to work with a variety of personality types and interact with individuals with various levels of education, capabilities and communication skills.
9. Must be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and in oral communication.
10. Must demonstrate the ability to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with others.
11. Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
12. Basic knowledge of third party payers preferred.
13. General knowledge of time of service collection procedures preferred.
14. Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette.
15. Working knowledge of hospital based applications as well as Microsoft Office applications and software.
16. Ability to understand written and oral communication.
