WORK LOCATION – Denver, CO; or a location deemed suitable by the Center e.g., near major airport and a state where the Center has established business operations. Current states eligible for remote work: AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MD, MI, MO, MT, NC, NE, NJ, NM, NY, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI.
This is a full-time, exempt position. The annual pay for this position is $71,023.00.

SUMMARY
The U.S. Center for SafeSport is a non-profit organization focused on ending all forms of abuse in sport. We endeavor to lead the movement to make sport safer for all through abuse prevention, education, and accountability.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Paralegal provides fundamental assistance to the Center’s Legal team, and by extension, the entire Center, across a variety of tasks. The Paralegal collaborates closely with attorneys on the Center’s Legal team in all arbitration matters, including legal research, legal writing, witness coordination, and any other necessary preparation for hearings.
Essential Functions
- Litigation Assistance:
- Review the entirety of select case files in a timely manner, identifying any potential issues that may arise during litigation.
- Condense and summarize cases based on the most important facts and policy.
- Assist the Center’s Legal staff in preparing for and conducting Arbitrations and Temporary Measures hearings.
- Communicate with individuals participating within the Center's process while adhering to trauma-informed principles.
- Technical Legal Research and Writing: Responsible for technical legal research and writing, including drafting notices, briefs, identifying issues, and applying policies and laws.
- Legal Administration: Assist in the administration of arbitration proceedings, including communications and coordination with arbitrators, opposing counsel, and staff at arbitration companies.
- Legal Research: Support the Response & Resolution team (R&R) in locating policies and statutes relevant to their investigations.
- Legal Support: Assist with other Legal tasks pertaining to Response & Resolution as needed.
- Teamwork: Communicate, both written and oral, and work collaboratively and cordially within the Legal team, interdepartmentally across the Center, and externally facing parties as needed.
Other Job Functions
- Communicate with law enforcement, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), government entities, and other attorneys as needed on behalf of the Center.
- Conduct legal research on unique issues as assigned (international law, potentially applicable policy, etc.).
- Draft Legal Memorandums incorporating legal research, analysis, and recommendations.
- Track and maintain information and outcomes regarding the Center’s arbitrations and other litigation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (Required + Preferred)
- Ability to work independently, while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including outside counsel, executive and senior management, and business associates.
- Proficient at legal writing and analysis, including drafting substantive pre-hearing briefing, issue spotting in various fact patterns, and comprehension and application of local, state, federal, and international laws.
- Demonstrated experience handling sensitive subject matter (i.e., child abuse, sexual misconduct, etc.).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams preferred.
Education Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in political science, criminal justice, or related.
Work Experience Required:
- Minimum 5 years supporting attorneys in a law firm, government legal office, or other relevant legal experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting litigation attorneys in the context of trials, hearings, arbitrations, or other similar proceedings
Work Experience Preferred:
- Demonstrated experience reviewing complex cases with voluminous discovery and drafting comprehensive, concise summaries of those cases with potential issues flagged.
- Experience within the realm of child abuse, sexual misconduct, and other circumstances covered within the Center’sjurisdiction.
