Job Description

Scale LLP, a modern, fully distributed law firm, is seeking a midlevel attorney to join our growing patent practice. This is a full-time position supporting Scale’s patent group and serving as a key member of our intellectual property team.

Who We're Seeking:
We’re looking for experienced (5+ years) patent prosecution attorneys who aim to expand their practice with a national firm. We welcome attorneys who have a dedicated patent paralegal/patent specialist that would join them here at Scale. 

You May Be A Perfect Fit If You:

  • Support sophisticated clients in patent prosecution and strategic counseling matters across Electric Engineering & Computer Science industries.
  • Have an undergraduate or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.
  • Are team- and growth-oriented, and enjoy working with colleagues who share this approach.
  • Are actively admitted to a state bar and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Qualifications:

  • At least five years of experience at a national or regional law firm OR in-house with a reputable company plus prior experience in private practice.
  • Graduated from a top-tier law school or be able to demonstrate an excellent and sustained reputation in the industry.
  • An interest in having autonomy over your own practice while simultaneously teaming up with top-notch attorneys across our corporate, intellectual property and litigation practices.  
  • Strong writing, research, and case management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects, and take ownership of client matters.
  • Preference for candidates based in the DC area.

Compensation & Opportunities:

  • Base Salary:  $160,000 - $180,000
  • Quarterly bonuses tied directly to clear, objective success metrics
