Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.
Under the leadership of the Director of Risk Management, the Sr. Coordinator, Legal Operations & Compliance position is responsible for supporting the efficient and effective functioning of the legal department by overseeing a wide range of operational, administrative, and compliance-related activities. This role focuses on helping to maintain organizational compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The Sr. Coordinator will work closely with legal, compliance, and business teams to streamline processes and provide key operational support for legal matters. This includes insurance claims, litigation support, and other related work requests, as necessary.

- Coordinate and support day-to-day operations of the legal department, ensuring effective workflow and resource management.
- Manage the review, revision and completion of basic legal documents and correspondence with outside counsel and coordinate internal execution as necessary.
- Assist the Department with processing sensitive and confidential information.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement within the legal department and across the organization.
- Lead or support legal projects and initiatives, ensuring deadlines are met and resources are effectively allocated. Perform intake for legal inquiries ensuring that all correspondence is routed to the appropriate team in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and support the completion of legal transactions
- Work with insurance brokers to secure Certificates of Insurance as needed, verifying coverage and processing renewals.
- Interface with outside counsel and assist with the integration of legal data throughout the agency.
- Help institutionalize legal knowledge by gathering, curating, and organizing legal work products, and maintaining a repository of legal documents and practices.
- Work with legal counsel as needed in preparing documentation related to any legal transactions, RFP’s, Offer Letters, Letters of Intent, Lease Agreements, Amendments, Estoppel Certificates, etc.
- Provide administrative support for compliance-related activities, ensuring the company adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Conduct research on insurance law, claims regulations, and industry best practices to assist the legal team in making informed decisions.
- Assist with legal support for claims disputes, including gathering evidence, preparing documentation, and liaising with external counsel as needed.
- Assist in the development and implementation of compliance programs, including training, monitoring, and reporting.
- Support the coordination of internal audits, regulatory filings, and compliance documentation.
- Assist RM leadership with assessing potential legal risks and ensure that appropriate mitigations are in place.
- Support the review and modification of insurance policies and terms, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Support internal and 3rd party compliance audits by organizing documentation, preparing reports, and ensuring that legal and regulatory requirements are met.

- Ability to display discretion and tact with access to sensitive and confidential information.
- Training & Experience
- Proven experience and/or education background as it relates to the position.
Work Schedule:
This position is currently in a hybrid schedule. While schedules are subject to change, the current requirements are that staff work onsite no less than two times a week. The Chief Executive Officer or designee may change the schedule of positions between hybrid or fully onsite, as necessary to accomplish LAHSA's business needs.
