Expro is currently recruiting for a Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join the Legal/Contracts team based in Houston, TX.

 

Key Activities and Accountabilities

•    Support in corporate matters, including amendments to the articles of incorporation, updating officers and directors, registrations, apostilles, among other corporate demands 
•    Review and respond/ object to subpoenas, assist with issuing legal holds
•    Support the placement of global insurance, including gathering data and connecting broker information to regional commercial/sales/legal groups
•    Examine documents, verify the completeness and accuracy of the data and liaise with document originators to resolve discrepancies, missing information etc. (as necessary);
•    Maintain a document/information control process suitable for the specific needs of the department, taking into account the company’s quality management system, local legal requirements etc.
•    Review commercial agreements (including NDAs, services and sales agreements) with business partners, vendors, and customers;
•    support the operational areas in eventual demands with customers, including contractual analysis, elaboration of claims, suggestion of contractual improvements, support to negotiation;
•    Prepare required PoAs in accordance with global procedures and keep control of all PoAs issued;
•    Support compliance initiatives.
•    Conduct legal research and gather related legal information;
•    Develop internal memos/ legal opinions re. interpretation of applicable legislation, jurisprudence and doctrine, when required;
•    Keeping electronic and physical filing of documents;
•    Meeting with attorneys and other professionals to talk about case details;
•    All-purpose administrative duties ie. responding to correspondence and answering telephone calls relating to legal consultancy;
•    Actively adhere to the Code of Conduct and Anti-Bribery policies, procedures and processes to ensure the highest ethical standards are maintained and exposure to liability or risk to Expro’s reputation is minimized. If necessary, report possible violations or conflicts of interest;
•    Actively comply with all applicable Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and processes. Promote HSE awareness; take responsibility and be accountable for own safety and safety of others. Demonstrate the personal application of HSE procedures in daily performance and always follow the 10 Safety House Rules;
•    Ensure objectives set under Employee Development Plan are met.

Job Knowledge and Qualifications

•    Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience with concentration in Paralegal, Law, or Business Administration preferred
•    Experience in the energy industry and/or corporate subsidiary experience (preferred) 
•    Public notary certificate (preferred) 
•    Excellent verbal/written communication skills
•    Ability to think critically and work both independently with minimal supervision and also as a team player
•    Proactive in managing multiple internal client relationships 
•    Excellent time management skills with both multi-tasking abilities and an organized approach to work
•    Attention to detail
•    Satisfactory results of pre-employment screenings (ie background check, drug/alcohol test, etc).
