About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Counsel for the Complex Subpoena and Garnishment Team of the Risk, Intellectual Property and Litigation Division of the Legal Department.  The individual selected will join a team of Legal Order Processing attorneys responsible for handling complex subpoena and garnishment matters impacting Wells Fargo Bank and the Enterprise. These matters include complex civil and criminal subpoenas, federal and state grand jury subpoenas, administrative agency subpoenas, civil investigative demands, and subpoenas served by state regulators/AGs.  The team also handles third-party requests for data preservation and other third-party orders requiring Wells Fargo to produce documents or witness testimony.  The Counsel will be responsible for managing economic, reputational, and regulatory risks. Additionally, this role may oversee dispute resolution involving Wells Fargo’s third-party contractors and vendors.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide litigation support on third-party subpoenas, garnishments, default judgments, and seizure warrants, including requests by federal, state, and local government agencies and other requestors in civil and criminal matters
  • Manage subpoenas involving complex matters involving e-discovery issues and other discovery related issues
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal business partners and stakeholders
  • Advise on areas of potential legal, economic, reputational, and regulatory risks to the enterprise
  • Provide guidance on issues involving the release of financial records and information to third parties
  • Provide legal advice and represent of the Company in litigation, negotiations, settlement discussions, and claims related legal issues
  • Provide guidance to internal clients on legal matters to assist with legal risk assessment, planning and policy decisions, claims against the Company, probability of loss, and develop cost-effective risk mitigation strategies
  • Develop the strategic direction for certain claims functions and management of related policies, procedures and controls to mitigate risk
  • Provide guidance to less experienced counsel or paralegals
  • Partner with business leaders and management of other corporate departments to develop and implement risk management programs


Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience as a practicing litigation attorney representing financial institutions
  • Experience handling e-discovery and complex discovery issues
  • Experience providing litigation support on third-party subpoenas, garnishments, default judgments, and seizure warrants, including requests by federal, state, and local government agencies and other requestors in civil and criminal matters
  • Experience analyzing legal issues and providing effective counsel to clients on complex legal matters
  • Organizing key concepts, issues or data findings into concise written summaries for presentation to senior leaders
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex environment with a high degree of collaboration


 

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$96,600.00 - $171,800.00
