Its 97,000 employees define possible every day using science, technology and engineering to create and deliver advanced systems, products, and services.Northrop Grumman’s Legal and Contracts Department is currently seeking a Corporate Counsel, Intellectual Property (IP) who will be responsible for providing expert legal support to the Company’s Corporate functions in the DC metropolitan area. This attorney will report to the Assistant General Counsel, Intellectual Property, Technology and Information Law. Specific responsibilities include:
Salary
- Collaborating with and providing strategic counseling to legal department colleagues, business partners in the Chief Information and Digital Office, Global Supply Chain, and Contracts, and management on a wide range of IP transactions and other complex issues
- Applying expertise in government contract IP matters, commercial transactions, software and other IP licensing, protecting information, managing IP enforcement actions, and managing outside counsel
- Developing an understanding of the Company’s business, products and technologies
- Providing thought leadership, driving development and implementation of enterprise-level strategic IP initiatives
- Monitoring developments in policy, legal and regulatory requirements in IP and advising leadership and business partners on best practices
- Developing and conducting enterprise-wide training on IP topics
- Highly motivated individual with strong analytical and process-development skills, clear and strategic thinking, exceptional judgment, sense of accountability, integrity and a record of managing complex IP matters
- Ability to provide accurate, timely, and pragmatic advice with speed
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work and lead in a collaborative and inclusive environment, with the ability to engage and motivate others through thought leadership
- Strong time-management and organizational skills, responsiveness, and a demonstrated ability to balance multiple competing priorities
- Juris Doctor degree and Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering or other relevant field
- Active state bar membership
- At least 8 years’ IP experience in a law firm, government, or as in-house counsel
- Experience in IP-related transactions and negotiations, and/or protecting and enforcing IP rights including patents, trade secrets, data, software, trademarks, and copyrights
- Experience working closely with other lawyers, technologists and business leaders on IP issues
- U.S. citizenship required. Candidates must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance.
- Experience with software and other IP licensing
- Significant experience with U.S. government contract IP regulations (FAR and DFARS) and complex issues relating to technical data and computer software
- Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
- Experience developing and managing global IP portfolios
- Active DoD Secret level security clearance
