We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Attorney Liaison to support coordination between FEMA claims teams and legal counsel. This position requires strong communication and documentation skills, along with a solid understanding of regulatory and legal frameworks. The Attorney Liaison will help ensure that claims-related decisions and appeals are supported with complete and compliant documentation
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
This project supports FEMA's Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Office, which was established to administer compensation for individuals and businesses impacted by the Hermit’s Peak and Calf Canyon Fires in New Mexico. The program ensures claims are reviewed accurately, fairly, and in compliance with federal law. Positions on this project support technical reviews, legal coordination, field inspections, and administrative processing.

Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for legal and policy-related inquiries from internal teams and FEMA legal advisors
Coordinate with claims reviewers and quality control staff to flag potential legal or policy risks
Review claims files to ensure completeness and legal compliance prior to escalation
Assist in preparing appeal documentation and summaries, integrating legal references and FEMA guidance
Track legal determinations and guidance issued by FEMA, and ensure proper communication across review teams
Maintain logs of escalated cases, timelines, and legal decisions to support audit readiness and transparency
Provide internal trainings or briefings on key legal topics or emerging guidance to ensure consistent application across review teams
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; JD or paralegal certification highly preferred
Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in legal coordination, public policy, or government claims administration
Familiarity with FEMA, insurance law, administrative law, or federal policy review processes
Excellent legal writing, policy analysis, and multi-party coordination skills
Experience using case management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and SharePoint
Ability to review and interpret legislative guidance, regulations, and program requirements
