Under the general supervision of the Chief Administrative Law Judge, Appeals Division, and the Presiding Administrative Law Judge, and under direct supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, the Legal Analyst provides paralegal support for the Appeals Division. The Legal Analyst works as an assistant to administrative law judges; handles paralegal duties which are analytical in nature.

- Experience working with calendaring and setting hearings
- Experience in legal research, writing and editing
- Highly organized and detail-oriented. Strong interpersonal, analytical, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to propose workable solutions in a tactful, constructive manner with staff at all levels of the organization
- Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with, and gain the confidence and support of, Board staff and customers
- Ability to learn and navigate complex computer systems, in addition to proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Excel
- Knowledge of state personnel laws and policies
- Excellent attendance required

Established by the State Constitution, the State Personnel Board (SPB) is charged with overseeing the merit-based, job- related recruitment and selection process for the hiring of state employees who provide critical services to the citizens of California. 1.As the analyst in charge of Calendaring, you are responsible for managing the schedules of different units that may have conflicting schedules. What steps would you take to resolve the conflicts? If the (resolved) schedule results in an uneven workload distribution between the units and/or individuals in
the unit, how would you balance the workload?
2. Describe your experience in conducting legal research and drafting legal briefs. If you do not have experience with legal research or drafting legal briefs, please use any similar experience.
