Job Description

Coral Gables Insurance Defense Team seeking Paralegal/Assistant with litigation/insurance defense/first party property defense experience to join an established firm with a friendly atmosphere and diverse group of people. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Microsoft applications, Adobe programs, as well as the filing system for the local courts and would have experience scheduling depositions. Individuals applying should be organized, able to multi-task, take full responsibility for calendaring for the attorneys, hardworking and be able to communicate effectively. Having worked with corporate or insurance clients would be beneficial. The team is enthusiastic about the work and looking for someone who will be as well.

Responsibilities:

 
  • Communicating with potential clients or other attorney's offices by email, by phone, or in person
  • Calendaring Deadlines
  • Filing legal documents with courts (State and Federal)
  • Manage pleadings, discovery demands, and discovery responses
  • Assist attorney in the preparation of case materials, including depositions and hearings
  • Making copies of legal documents
  • Accurately file documents with court ahead of deadlines
  • Process third party and vendor invoices
  • File, organize, scan, copy legal documents in a timely manner
  • Schedule court depositions, hearings, and other meetings
  • Facilitate the meeting of deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and provide timely reminders
  • Input and track costs and bills for litigation matters

Qualifications:
 
  • 2+ years' experience as a legal secretary
  • Familiarity with legal documents and terminology
  • Working knowledge of litigation management software systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Able to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Able to work as a team with attorneys and other colleagues
  • Demonstrate a courteous and professional demeanor
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Bilingual English & Spanish (preferred)
