Job Description

SALARY GRADE: Flat Rated

This position is time-limited grant funded, full-time. Funding for this position will end on September 30, 2026.

The Office of the District Attorney, Prosecutorial District 31, is seeking a qualified candidate to provide legal support services to Domestic Violence Unit in the Forsyth County office. Duties include but are not limited to: type correspondence and maintain records, screen calls and visitors; answer inquiries, secure and provide information; respond to routine inquiries regarding court dates, maintain office practices and procedures, screen and route mail according to contents of communication including e-mail; compose and type letters; assist victims of domestic violence with the completion of forms and other documents; use office computer systems to gather, verify or enter case information; and maintain case files.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Knowledge of: court system and procedures; legal terminology; and community resources to refer victims and witnesses.

Skill in: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; accurately typing 35-40 wpm; and answering a multi-line telephone system.

Ability to: Ability to interview to elicit information from victims and witnesses to assure appropriate services; communicate orally and in writing with persons of diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement officers, officials of related agencies, and the general public; calmly handle stressful situations; work independently; handle a large amount of public interaction; and accurately type legal forms and documents. The ability to speak, read and understand Spanish would be helpful.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Graduation from high school or high school equivalency certificate and two (2) years of legal secretarial experience.
