Title: Employee Relations Attorney (Onsite) 

Employment Type: Full-Time 

Salary Range: $185,000-$200,000 annually, bonus and equity eligible 
Location: 685 3rd Ave. New York, NY 10017 (Onsite 5 days/week)

Position Overview: 

We are seeking an experienced Employment/Employee Relations Attorney to advise on workplace matters and support growth. Reporting to both the Senior Vice President Human Resources and to the General Counsel, this role will provide strategic legal counsel to HR and ensure compliance across a multistate workforce. The attorney will advise on compliance with labor laws, employee relations, workplace investigations, policy development, and risk mitigation. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in employment law, regulatory compliance, employee relations and be well-versed in healthcare and EMS industry regulations with the proven ability to address challenges and promote a positive workplace culture. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Advisor to Human Resources: Offer expert legal counsel to the Human Resources team on employee relations, workplace policies, compliance matters and provide recommendations to enhance employee relations strategies that foster a positive workplace culture. Monitor and advise on changes in employment regulations that impact healthcare and EMS operations.
  • Multi-State Employment Law: Ensure adherence to employment laws and wage & hour compliance across multiple states, including state-specific regulations, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, Title II, NLRA, and multistate licensing requirements. 
  • Employee Relations: Supervise investigations and provide legal oversight for disciplinary actions such as write-ups, suspensions, and terminations. 
  • Training and Education: Design and conduct training sessions on organizational practices, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation strategies, and state-specific employment laws for management, HR personnel, and staff. 
  • Conflict Resolution: Advise on grievances and conflicts, offering legal guidance to mitigate risk. 
  • Policy and Compliance: Draft and review workplace policies to ensure alignment with federal, state, and local employment laws. Work closely with HR and Legal teams to develop and update policies, employee handbooks, and training programs. 
  • Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Manage employment-related litigation matters, administrative proceedings, respond to EEOC, DOL, OSHA and regulatory agencies and represent the Company in managing agency complaints and employee dispute mediations. Assist and guide legal counsel during arbitration and litigation proceedings. 
  • Provide general oversight of the Company's operational litigation matters and collaborate with the Risk department and management regarding these issues. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active New York State Bar membership in good standing.
  • Experience practicing employment law in the healthcare/Healthtech space
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing employment law, with a focus on employee relations. 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
