GAVERY is proud to partner with a well-established regional business law firm to identify a skilled and dedicated Education Law Attorney to join their growing practice. Our client is known for its deep commitment to serving public sector clients, and they are seeking an attorney with direct experience representing boards of education across a broad spectrum of legal matters.
This is a unique opportunity to join a collaborative, client-focused team that provides trusted legal counsel to educational institutions throughout North Carolina.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise and represent public school boards on a wide range of education law issues, including Title IX compliance, compliance with changing state and federal laws impacting how education is delivered, special education requirements, student discipline issues, and employment and tenure.
- Handle administrative hearings, litigation, contract negotiations, and other related legal proceedings.
- Draft, review, and update policies, procedures, contracts, and other legal documents.
- Keep clients informed of emerging legal developments and provide proactive legal guidance.
- Cultivate strong client relationships with school boards and educational leaders.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Bar Membership: Active Member of the North Carolina Bar (Required)
- A minimum of 5+ years of education law experience, specifically working with or representing boards of education.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a client-centered approach.
- Residency in North Carolina is required.
