Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Cash Applications Analyst in the Finance department, reporting to the Cash Applications Manager.

The role will reside in the Dallas office with hybrid work capabilities and will support the Cash Applications Manager in developing standardized procedures and workflows within the department. The Analyst will handle complex reconciliation tasks, create detailed reports, and provide backup support to both the manager and specialist. This high-volume role requires a thorough understanding of cash application processes and a high level of analytical skills.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Perform daily cash application tasks, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of standardized procedures and workflows for the department.
  • Investigate unapplied, unallocated, overpayments, dormant matters with balances and identifies unknown third-party payors.
  • Generate ad hoc and scheduled cash reports.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve complex cash application issues.
  • Perform Versapay reconciliation and resolve and discrepancies.
  • Train and onboard new Cash Applications Specialists.
  • Provide backup support for the manager and specialists during absences.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance department efficiency.
  • Collaborate with billing and revenue team to improve cash application process.
  • Support special projects as assigned by the Cash Applications Manager.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field a plus but not required
  • Minimum of 2-4 years old experience in cash applications or a related financial role
  • Strong understanding of cash application process and reconciliation
  • General knowledge of banking operations, including understanding of electronic payment instructions and familiarity with routing/account numbers
  • Proficiency in Versapay or similar cash application software a plus but not required
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for training and team collaboration
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
