What is the role of the In-House Litigation Attorney?

The In-House Litigation Attorney will be responsible for managing a robust caseload of first-party and third-party automobile litigation matters from inception through resolution. This role requires a skilled litigator with a proven track record of successfully handling all phases of discovery, alternative dispute resolution, and trial in Georgia. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, and be able to work independently while also collaborating effectively with adjusters, claims professionals, and other legal team members.

 

What will you do?

  • Manage and litigate a full caseload of automobile liability defense and UM/UIM matters in Georgia. 
  • Conduct comprehensive written discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
  • Prepare for and conduct party, expert, and medical provider depositions.
  • Represent the company effectively in arbitrations and mediations, working towards favorable resolutions.
  • Prepare for and conduct trials, including all pre-trial motions, jury selection, direct and cross-examination, and closing arguments.
  • Provide timely and accurate legal advice to claims adjusters and management regarding litigation strategy, risk assessment, and potential outcomes.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda, motions, and briefs.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed case files, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with claims professionals to ensure effective communication and strategic alignment.
  • Stay current on relevant legal developments and trends in Georgia personal injury law.

What do you need? 

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active and in good standing bar membership in Georgia.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a litigation attorney, specifically handling automobile liability defense cases.
  • Georgia Experience: Proven litigation experience in some or all of the following counties: Fulton, Cobb, DeKalb, Gwinnett & Clayton.
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Drafting and responding to written discovery.
    • Conducting party, expert, and medical provider depositions.
    • Participating in and leading arbitrations and mediations.
    • Preparing for and trying cases to verdict.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in defending non-standard and minimum limits automobile insurance policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Superior analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage a demanding caseload independently while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in legal research software and case management systems.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within Texas for court appearances, depositions, and mediations.

Base Compensation Range:

$125,000 - $145,000 (USD) annually

Location:

Remote with travel in the state of Georgia.
