Block LLP is seeking an experienced Pre-Litigation Supervisor (Attorney) to provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for our growing pre-litigation department. This role is responsible for ensuring that personal injury cases are properly evaluated, efficiently advanced, and positioned for maximum settlement value prior to litigation.
The Pre-Litigation Supervisor serves as both a legal leader and operational manager, overseeing case strategy, department performance, quality control, and team development. What You'll DoDepartment Leadership & Oversight- Provide attorney-level supervision of all pre-litigation personal injury matters.
- Oversee case strategy, liability analysis, damages evaluation, and settlement positioning.
- Ensure consistency, quality control, and compliance across the pre-litigation department.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex cases, coverage issues, and high-value claims.
- Monitor statutes, deadlines, and risk exposure across the department.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Case Managers and Case Manager Assistants.
- Conduct file reviews, performance evaluations, and coaching sessions.
- Establish clear expectations, workflows, and accountability standards.
- Identify training opportunities and support professional development.
- Partner with leadership on hiring, onboarding, and team structure decisions.
- Review and approve demand packages prior to submission.
- Provide guidance on settlement negotiations and case resolution strategies.
- Participate in high-level negotiations with insurance carriers when necessary.
- Ensure cases are positioned for maximum recovery value.
- Oversee seamless transitions to litigation when appropriate.
- Track and analyze key department metrics, including cycle time, settlement values, conversion rates, and client satisfaction.
- Develop and improve SOPs, workflows, and best practices.
- Partner with Operations and Firm Leadership to improve efficiency and performance.
- Ensure accurate reporting and data integrity within case management systems.
- Work closely with Intake, Litigation, and Operations teams.
- Ensure smooth handoffs and communication between departments.
- Align pre-litigation practices with firm-wide goals and standards.
- Support strategic initiatives that contribute to firm growth and client satisfaction.
Requirements
- Active California Bar license in good standing.
- Minimum of 5 years of personal injury experience, including significant pre-litigation experience.
- Deep understanding of personal injury law, insurance coverage, liability, damages, and settlement strategy.
- Proven ability to evaluate case value and maximize settlement outcomes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional client service and team performance.
- Prior leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
- Experience overseeing teams, workflows, and department performance.
- Experience training, mentoring, and developing legal staff.
- Experience working in a high-volume plaintiff-side personal injury law firm.
- Experience with personal injury case management software and reporting systems.
