
Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit is growing! A well-established and leading law firm specializing in the representation of homeowner, condominium, and community associations is seeking a Paralegal with 1-3 years of experience for our Indianapolis, IN location. As a Paralegal, you’ll be responsible for a variety of tasks, including both billable and administrative. The ideal candidate must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
The starting hourly rate for this role is $29.13, contingent upon level of legal experience. The general business hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday- Friday. This is a non-exempt, in office position with no remote work available.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with drafting and preparing various legal documents, including grievance letters, payment plan agreements, settlement agreements, routine motions, proposed orders, complaints, open balance notifications, and other communications as needed.
- Communicate with clients and property owners, providing regular updates on case progress.
- Monitor case status to ensure timely progress and resolution.
- Oversee the post-judgment hearing process to address violation corrections and collect attorney fees.
- Collect, prepare, and summarize relevant case materials for attorney review.
- Manage the transition of all covenant violation matters to HOACollect, maintaining oversight to ensure proper utilization of the system by attorneys and staff for effective case management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by attorneys.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· 1-3 years as a Paralegal and/or 3+ years practical experience, required.
· Paralegal certification, preferred.
· Experience in community association law, real estate, and/or landlord-tenant law preferred, but not required.
· Strong computer skills, specifically experience in all Microsoft Office Suite programs, including Word and Excel.
· Familiarity with LexisNexis is a plus.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Able to work in a fast-paced environment with challenging tasks and daily deadlines.
