The Senior Environmental and Natural Resources Specialist is a member of the Environmental and Natural Resources practice group. This professional will work closely with attorneys and colleagues within the Environmental & Natural Resources practice group and will report directly to the Legal Support Administrator for the Regulatory & Finance Department. There is an annual billing component to this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Primarily responsible for managing and coordinating the activities and initiatives of various Troutman Pepper stakeholder groups. This includes ensuring effective communication, fostering collaboration, providing technical support for stakeholder advocacy and drafting comments on state regulatory actions.
Participate in state regulatory advisory panels, stakeholder groups and technical advisory committees on behalf of Troutman Pepper stakeholder groups. Prepare detailed reports and summaries to keep relevant Troutman Pepper stakeholder groups informed about regulatory developments.
Monitor and analyze new and evolving water quality and water quantity-related regulations. This includes staying up to date with legislative and regulatory changes, assessing the technical implications of these changes on firm clients, and aiding clients in evaluating engineering options for achieving compliance.
Coordinate all aspects of Troutman Pepper stakeholder group meetings, including inviting speakers, planning, and organizing meeting agendas, and ensuring seamless execution of events.
Actively participate in marketing initiatives aimed at building and expanding membership within stakeholder groups. This includes developing promotional materials, engaging with potential members, and leveraging various marketing channels to increase visibility and participation.
Serve as a mentor for the Environmental Project Specialist, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to foster their growth and success within the firm.
Engage directly with clients of the firm, representing Troutman Pepper in a professional and courteous manner, addressing client needs, and facilitating effective communication between clients and the firm.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to perform highly complex and specialized assignments.
Regularly provides consultation to others on topics within area of specialization within the practice group.
Applies deep and highly specialized knowledge of laws, regulations, and case law Environmental and Natural Resources gained through considerable experience.
Strong Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skill, including the ability to work productively under pressure.
Ability to manage multiple priorities.
Must be willing to take initiative to ensure completion of tasks.
Maintain and observe confidentiality of client and firm matters.
Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with business leaders, clients, and attorneys.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree; or any combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Ten (10) or more years’ experience in environmental engineering.

Hiring Salary Range:
- $120,000 - $140,000
