Legal Assistant

Stein Sperling is seeking a full-time, experienced Legal Assistant to join our busy Tax practice in Rockville, Maryland. Responsibilities include proofing, editing, and formatting documents; scanning and copying; processing incoming mail; maintaining both electronic and hard copy files; independently performing conflict checks on potential clients; drafting cover letters for routine correspondence; preparing IRS and state tax department power of attorney forms; obtaining IRS transcripts online; mailing packages with strict notice requirements; sending faxes; maintaining attorneys’ calendars; answering phones; and serving as the first point of contact for clients. 

Qualifications: 

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an assistant in the legal, tax, and/or business fields, and/or a bachelor’s degree in business or accounting. 

• Familiarity with Microsoft Teams preferred. 

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 

• Ability to exercise independent judgment. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

• Strong organizational skills and proficiency in relevant computer programs. 

• A team player with a professional demeanor. 

• Willingness to work occasional overtime as needed. 

• This is not a remote position.

This is an Hourly Non-Exempt Position with an Annual Salary Range of $70,000- $90,000
