Job Description

Defense Litigation Associate/Attorney

An established client is looking to hire additional associates and attorneys of any level with at least 2 1/2 years of experience specifically in workers' compensation law


Practice Area: Workers’ Compensation Defense Litigation

Location: West Palm Beach, FL 33401

Schedule: 9-5:30 M-F, Remote/Hybrid (2 days in-office max); Full-time 40 hours per week; No billable hourly requirement

Salary: $115,000 to $170,000 per year

Bonus: On average an independent attorney can gross $5k-$7k quarterly with the proprietary bonus structrue in place

Benefits: Health/dental/vision/life, $401k match 3%, PTO, flexible schedule and laid back environment with no micromanagement or babysitting.


The Client:

A well-established law firm serving as a key legal resource for members of the South Florida Chamber of Commerce. The practice maintains a robust caseload in workers’ compensation defense and is seeking to expand its litigation team due to growing client demand across multiple industries. This role offers the opportunity to join a collegial environment with strong mentorship and career growth potential.


Description:

The role will require an attorney to manage a modest caseload of approximately 30-60 cases monthly, with a performance incentive for taking cases independently end-to-end, with a goal of 5+ files closed monthly. The individual will be representing employers, insurers, and other liable third-parties in the acute aspect of defense and litigation of workers’ compensation claims and disputes. Daily work will include research and case analysis, legal writing, drafting, pleading, and filing of timely documents to court hearing and depositions to be heard. Attend, shadow or lead in mediations and summary judgements. The team collaborates closely with each other too service client in developing sound defense strategies that mitigate losses and protect the financial interests of clients. Success is seen in ensuring compliance with procedural deadlines, and provide clear, timely case updates. This position presents an opportunity to join a collaborative team, growing steadily throughout South Florida having been well-established with paper on virtually all of the insurance carriers in the state, providing ample opportunity to find new cases and drive profits for the individual as well as the firm in a flexible mostly remote, can be hybrid, schedule of at max 2 days per week to commute to West Palm Beach.


Qualifications:

  1. Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active Florida Bar membership
  2. 2+ years of experience in workers’ compensation defense litigation preferred
  3. Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  4. Proven ability to manage deadlines and handle a high-volume caseload
  5. Experience with depositions, mediations, and hearings
  6. Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
  7. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  8. Commitment to professional development and delivering high-quality legal service
