Job Description

Be a Part of Something that Matters

At WECC, we affect the lives of 88 million people by influencing risk monitoring and mitigation to the bulk power system (BPS) in the West. The grid is changing quickly as environmental regulations, economics, technology, and customer demands push the power industry to higher limits. Help us continue our important work by joining our team as a Senior Enforcement Analyst/Attorney, Operations and Planning (O&P).

In this role, you will conduct analyses that support WECC’s enforcement of FERC-approved Reliability Standards. You will use your understanding of the Electric Reliability Organization (ERO) Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program, including understanding of the relationships among standards development, reliability performance, and assessment. You will assess the facts and circumstances of noncompliance to make fair and reasonable suggestions to address problems.

You will—
  • Promote BPS reliability by enforcing Reliability Standards.
  • Develop regulatory documents and proposals for applying effective policies.
  • Record proposed violations, penalties, sanctions, and reliability recommendations with an emphasis on activities related to O&P.
  • Conduct analyses of ERO reliability compliance and enforcement.
  • Draft formal dispositions on the enforcement of Reliability Standards.
  • Prepare for settlement negotiation and other proceedings.
  • Work with several WECC teams to advance projects.
You will enjoy this role if you—
  • Hold a law degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school and are licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of a state or the District of Columbia.
  • Have two or more years of experience in energy, administrative law, regulatory law, or complex litigation.
  • Know and understand:
    • Industry internal compliance programs and internal controls; and
    • Root-cause analysis.
  • Have experience with regulatory practices, analyzing issues, and shaping policies.
  • Have drafted formal reports, pleadings, or filings.
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Can successfully resolve challenging issues.
  • Communicate well with all levels of the organization and present data to a variety of audiences and intelligently respond to questions.
  • Can foster strong professional relationships.
  • Are skilled at reviewing detailed and complex documentation.
  • Are highly organized and able to multitask.
  • Can lead a dynamic, cross-functional team while still completing individual projects.
Our Culture and Values
  • Our people and our work matter;
  • Everyone is invited to be a leader;
