Job Description

The Division of Cannabis Control oversees the Medical Marijuana Control Program Patient & Caregiver Registry, and licenses and regulates medical marijuana cultivators, processors, dispensaries, and testing laboratories. The Division also oversees the non-medical cannabis program in Ohio following voter approval of an initiated statute to legalize the possession and use of cannabis by individuals age 21 and over.

The Division is seeking candidates to fill an Attorney 5 position. The Attorney 5 will be an integral part of the Cannabis Control team and duties will include:

  • Providing guidance to cannabis industry stakeholders to assist with maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Analyzing and evaluating mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions within the cannabis industry.
  • Conducting thorough investigations of potential violations related to ownership and control of cannabis licenses.
  • Preparing legal documents and recommending appropriate actions to address violations in coordination with division compliance and enforcement staff.
  • Drafting and reviewing regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Participating in public hearings and provide legal expertise during regulatory discussions.

Salary
  • $15/hour
Qualifications

Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code; 18 mos. exp. as licensed attorney; 6 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques.
