Description

Position Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist attorneys by performing work of a substantive legal nature under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


• Draft agendas and prepare meeting packets
• Draft bond closing documents in compliance with Developer agreements and title work
• Coordinate distribution of packets and posting of agendas
• Train lesser tenured legal assistants and project clerks as needed
• Prepare master file for board meetings
• Draft and prepare meeting minutes; assemble exhibits to minutes
• Coordinate publication of various MUD legal notices
• Schedule, coordinate and occasionally attend Board meetings
• Prepare correspondence and petitions for restrictive covenant enforcement
• Comply with required statutory filings for assigned districts
• Work with attorneys, consultants, board members and residents
• Serve as records management officer for district files
• Coordinate all aspects of the tax establishment process
• Coordinate all aspects of directors and special elections; coordinate early voting and election day procedures
• Train voters regarding voting process and sample ballot(s)
• Assemble and provide documents needed for a district’s bond application including due diligence questionnaire and related documents
• Comply with bond related filings and provide required notices to other parties of filings, bond orders, and sales
• Use BECoreRelate docketing system
• Maintain and update firm website for districts
• Coordinate with MUD team members to insure duties are being performed the most efficient way possible
• Perform legal research tasks using all available resources including libraries and computer research systems
• Take initiative in obtaining and managing projects from attorneys
• Track and record time spent performing all firm-related tasks
• Work occasional over time to perform the essential duties of the position
• Travel to private and public buildings to assist attorney in attending to client legal matters
• Maintain positive contact with clients, consultants and residents
• Understand and comply with all Firm policies and procedures

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write memoranda, reports and business correspondence. Ability to draft resolutions, orders and contracts with supervision.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as taxes, interest, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Google)
