Under the supervision of OSUMC President, the Director - General Counsel serves as the hospital’s in-house legal advisor, providing strategic and operational guidance to executive leadership, the Medical Trust and affiliated entities, and clinical stakeholders. This role oversees legal risk exposure, governance compliance, contractual integrity, and litigation coordination across OSUMC operations.
The position functions as the primary liaison with outside counsel and participates directly in executive planning and governance activities. Work is primarily remote with required onsite attendance for leadership and governance meetings.
Qualifications
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active Lawyer License - Oklahoma
Experience:
- More than 5 years, with prior experience in a hospital or health system, viewed favorably
- Supporting executive leadership and governing bodies
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation experience
- Experience supporting trusts, boards, or affiliated entities, viewed favorably
- Familiarity with physician credentialing, medical staff matters, and peer review, viewed favorably
- Experience managing outside counsel and legal budgets, viewed favorably
