Job Description

ImpactAs Corporate Counsel, Commercial, you will support and scale our commercial legal function. You will be responsible for leading complex transactions, supporting procurement operations, managing contract lifecycle workflows, and advising on third-party risk, data use, and vendor governance. This is a key legal role supporting high-growth operational teams including Procurement, Marketing, Technology, Finance, Product, and Operations. You’ll partner cross-functionally to negotiate strategic deals, design scalable legal workflows, and serve as a trusted advisor on contracting best practices.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • 5+ years of legal experience with a strong focus on commercial transactions and vendor contracting, preferably with some in-house experience.  This includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts, including SaaS, technology, logistics, advertising agency agreements, and/or professional services agreements.

  • Deep understanding of commercial negotiation, operational contracting, and business risk allocation, including advising stakeholders on key legal risks related to contract terms, data privacy, security, indemnity, limitation of liability, and regulatory issues impacting vendor relationships.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with non-legal stakeholders in fast-paced environments, including Procurement, Finance, IT, and Marketing.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and a collaborative mindset, with experience developing and delivering legal enablement tools, trainings, and scalable contract playbooks as well as identifying process improvements and driving automation opportunities in commercial legal workflows.

Work Arrangement

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader.  Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis. Pay range:

Metro Areas of Boston, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and New York City: 

$123,000-$247,000

All other locations:

$109,000-$219,000

Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
