Job Title: Pricing and Rate Implementation Analyst
Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Manager of Strategic Pricing and Business Intake Teams, the Pricing and Rate Implementation Analyst serves as a critical liaison between the billing and pricing teams. This role ensures seamless communication and coordination to support accurate rate implementation, efficient business intake, and the achievement of the firm’s profitability goals. In addition, the Analyst will provide pricing analysis and financial modeling to support client proposals, alternative fee arrangements (AFAs), and strategic pricing initiatives. The Analyst will work in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive materials and must maintain strict confidentiality due to the nature of the position.
***Salary in the range of $60,000 - $70,000 dependent on location and experience level***
Essential Job Duties:
Bridge Between Billing and Pricing Teams
- Act as the primary point of contact between the billing and pricing teams, ensuring that all rate changes, client fee agreements, and AFAs are accurately communicated, implemented, and maintained in the firm’s financial systems.
- Facilitate the intake of new matters by coordinating with both teams to ensure appropriate rates are set up and client agreements are archived and accessible.
- Troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies or issues related to rate implementation, collaborating with both billing and pricing to deliver timely solutions.
Business Intake and Rate Implementation
- Oversee the end-to-end process of business intake, ensuring all required information is collected, validated, and entered accurately to support downstream billing and pricing activities.
- Play an integral role in the annual review and update of client and matter rate agreements, ensuring timely and precise implementation of timekeeper rates and fee arrangements.
- Monitor and audit rate setups to ensure compliance with negotiated agreements and firm policies, proactively identifying and correcting errors.
Pricing Analysis and Strategy
- Develop and maintain pricing models to support client proposals, AFAs, and rate negotiations, ensuring alignment with firm profitability goals.
- Analyze historical matter data, billing patterns, and profitability metrics to provide actionable insights for pricing decisions.
- Collaborate with attorneys and client teams to prepare budgets, forecasts, and scenario analyses for client engagements.
- Assist in the evaluation of pricing strategies and recommend improvements to enhance competitiveness and profitability.
Operational Excellence
- Participate in the development and standardization of best practices for business intake, rate implementation, and pricing analysis, with a focus on automation and process improvement.
- Collaborate with IT, finance, and other business services teams to enhance the user experience and operational efficiency.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles, with well-developed mathematical and analytical skills.
- Prior experience in the legal industry and familiarity with law firm pricing strategies is highly desirable.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial modeling and pricing tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with individuals at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, exercising good judgment and prioritization.
- Occasional after-hours or weekend work as required.
