RumbergerKirk is looking for an experienced Paralegal to join our team! In this role, you’ll work closely with our attorneys on a variety of civil defense matters, including trucking litigation, premises liability, personal injury, and products liability. You’ll be involved in all phases of litigation, from case development through trial, and play a key role in keeping cases moving forward.
What you’ll do
- Manage and organize case files, including obtaining, reviewing, summarizing, and maintaining key documents
- Support discovery efforts by drafting discovery requests and pleadings (interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission), organizing document production, and indexing records
- Review, analyze, and summarize medical records; prepare detailed medical chronologies and narrative summaries
- Assist with deposition and discovery investigation, including preparing deposition summaries, exhibit indexes, and coordinating with witnesses, experts, and investigators
- Coordinate and communicate with attorneys regarding case deadlines, including depositions, mediations, and hearings
- Prepare materials for litigation, including trial notebooks, exhibits, witness and exhibit disclosures, and demonstrative aids (e.g., trial boards, presentations)
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations for mediations and attend mediations and trial alongside attorneys
- Travel as needed to attend depositions, meet with witnesses, and visit accident scenes or evidence locations
- Utilize and maintain case management and litigation support tools (e.g., Summation databases)
- Track billable time in accordance with client guidelines and firm procedures
- Collaborate with attorneys and team members to support case strategy and trial preparation
- Provide support across the team, including training new hires and assisting with coverage as needed
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in a law firm environment, preferably in civil defense
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, with paralegal certification or equivalent experience
- Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work in a timely manner.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to details.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general office technology.
- Experience with legal software (e.g., document management and timekeeping systems) preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Ability and willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, as required.
