Energy & Infrastructure - PPA Associate Attorney  

Locations: CA (Los Angeles, Orange County, Sacramento, San Francisco, Santa Monica, Silicon Valley) | Washington, D.C. | Chicago, IL | Boston, MA | New York, NY | Portland, OR | TX (Austin, Houston) | Seattle, WA | Wheeling, WV 

 

Our client, a prestigious Amlaw 50 firm, is seeking a talented Associate Attorney to join their high-performing Energy and Infrastructure Practice and specialize in power purchase agreements (PPAs). This position is open to multiple offices in the US and focuses on cutting-edge energy offtake work across renewables, energy storage, and emerging technologies.

 

Candidate Profile:
  • JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.

  • Active Bar Admission in the relevant jurisdiction (CA, DC, IL, MA, NY, OR, TX, WA, WV).

  • 4–8 years of substantive experience advising on complex energy projects, with a focus on offtake agreements.

  • Deep experience with one or more of the following:

    • physical and virtual renewable energy PPAs,
    • corporate PPAs,
    • energy storage offtake agreements,
    • carbon removal credit agreements,
    • nuclear offtakes,
    • renewable energy credit agreements,
    • hedging agreements,
    • resource adequacy sales,
    • ISDAs,
    • EEI agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with clients in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong team orientation, adaptability, and business acumen.

  • A passion for energy innovation, climate solutions, and complex contract work.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent buyers, sellers, and developers in a broad array of energy offtake arrangements.

  • Structure and negotiate sophisticated PPA, REC, storage, and related agreements in both regulated and deregulated markets.

  • Advise on offtake structures supporting utility-scale and distributed renewable energy projects, energy storage, and emerging technologies like carbon removal and nuclear.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project finance, tax, and regulatory groups, to drive seamless client service.

  • Provide strategic counsel to clients navigating dynamic regulatory and market landscapes.

  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
