About the Position: This position is located at U.S. Army Center of Military History, Deputy Executive Director, Washington, DC. If you are currently serving in a permanent, competitive service appointment in the Federal service, and are selected for this position, the appointment will remove you from the competitive service while you occupy this position.
Duties- Advises senior leadership in the Center of Military History (CMH) and the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC)concerning all CMH legal matters.
- Provides legal and policy review for a wide variety of matters including museum and cultural property law, ethics, contracts and fiscal law, labor and employment operations and personnel, administrative investigations, and intellectual property.
- Serves as Primary Legal Advisor to the National Museum of the U.S. Army (NMUSA) and to the Army Museum Enterprise (AME) which comprises more than 40 separate dispersed worksites which includes 215 government civilian and contract workers.
- Represents CMH at meetings and conferences with senior Army and civilian officials and the legal counsel of other government entities and private organizations.
- Incumbent is the primary point of expertise in the Army regarding the legal requirements for the operation of Army museums, including acquisition, loan, and disposition of artifacts in the Army Historical Collection.
- Incumbent advises the CMH staff on questions of fiscal law and policy that pertain to acquisition and cooperative agreement matters.
