Ross Professional Services, LLC (RPS) is a Professional Staffing, Technical Support and Consulting firm with office headquarters in Washington, DC since 1998. As a current SBA 8(a), Woman-Owned Small Business and GSA schedule MAS contact holder, we are currently seeking a Litigation Support/Senior Paralegal for an immediate government contract in Worcester, MA.
 
COVID News: This is 100% onsite. All onsite, personnel will adhere to guidelines of social distancing, wear a face covering, washing hands, etc.
 
Federal Government Mandate: Unvaccinated onsite contractors must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test from no later than three days before entering a federal facility — or be enrolled in an agency’s testing program. 
 
 Title: Paralegal I/Legal Assistant I ($50K - $59K)
 Location: U.S. Attorney’s Office – District of Maine, 202 Harlow 
 Street, Bangor, Maine 04401
 
 Duty Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm 
 Days: Monday – Friday 
 Duration: ASAP - 1 year contract (possible extension)
 Pay: ($50K) $24.07 per hour (100% health, dental, federal holiday benefits)
 ($59K) $28.64 per hour (full federal holiday benefits)

Scope of Work/Tasks
 
The mission of the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO), District of Maine, is enforce the law and defend the interests of the United States according to the law; to ensure public safety against threats foreign and domestic; to provide federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime; to seek just punishment for those guilty of unlawful behavior; and to ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all. Our paralegals offer a comprehensive support including legal memorandums, pleading, discovery, briefs, bankruptcy petitions, case management and other paralegal-based services.
 
SCOPE OF WORK:
 
General Qualifications: The contractor must possess essential qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, and an ability to work cooperatively with others.
 
Duties and Responsibilities: Labor Category: 30361 ‐ Paralegal/Legal Assistant I
 
Minimum/General Experience and Years of Experience:
 •Attention to detail and the ability to read and follow directions
 • Good oral and written communications skills
 • Waived: One-year experience in related field.
 
Functional Responsibility:
 •A Paralegal/Administrative Specialist performs, but is not limited to the following duties:
 •Provide Apprentice examination of legal instruments
 •Review legal instruments (completeness of information, proper execution)
 •Provides direct support to attorneys and paralegals regarding functional and administrative duties
 •Determine correctness of action (per Government regulations, procedures, etc).
 •Research records (to ascertain conditions that might preclude action)
 • Assists with various administrative tasks on a daily basis 
 • Collects and compiles statistical data as necessary for various reports 
 • Provide assistance within the Administrative Division to include reception duties and file creation and maintenance
 • Proficiency with numerous software and databases including, but not limited to, MICROSOFT SUITE.
 
Educational Requirements:
 • Two year undergraduate degree or equivalent
 **This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7 (or 10) year minimum background investigation
 
 
TRAVEL.
 
Travel may be required within the district or occasionally outside the district as-needed to perform job duties as directed by the USAO. When travel is required, it shall be pre-approved by the Contracting Officer, AO, USA or FAUSA. Local travel (within 50 miles of the place of performance) and travel time will not be reimbursed by the Government. All travel expenses shall be reimbursed in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations (FTR). Contractors are expected to incur expenses prudently. Travel shall be submitted with back-up documentation and receipts provided as required by the FTR.
 
TRAINING
 
The Contractor shall ensure its employees on this Contract are trained on "contract-specific" issues such as Department of Justice ethics, standards of conduct, individual conflict of interest, confidentiality requirements, Department of Justice security requirements, understanding the function of reporting, and the importance of quality control and quality assurance. In addition, Contractor managers shall be educated in the terms and conditions of the Contract.
 
DOJ Ethics - All Contractor personnel must view the Department of Justice ethics presentation within the first two weeks of performance. The Contractor shall notify the CO upon completion of the task. The CO will maintain a record of completion of this training in the official file.
 
Cybersecurity Awareness Training (CSAT) – All Contractor personnel having access to a Department Information System shall be required to complete the annual Cybersecurity Awareness Training.
 
SECURITY REQUIREMENTS.
 
Contractor Personnel will be required to undergo requisite security clearance and background investigations as directed by the USAO. The vendor shall pre-screen applicants and only offer candidates who are capable and expected to pass these screenings.
