What you bring to the table
The Beck Group seeks to add a skilled attorney to our In-House legal team. Working alongside our Senior Counsel and General Counsel, you will provide legal support to our project teams nationwide. This position will work closely with Construction, Architecture, and Design-Build project teams through the full lifecycle of each project. As a member of a small legal team supporting a large company, this position is an exciting opportunity to quickly become an instrumental contributor to the success of each project and the company overall.
The position involves the following essential functions:
- Primary responsibility to provide legal support to construction and architecture project teams through full lifecycle of project, from RFP to closeout
- Also support human resources, other corporate services, and Beck regional and corporate leadership
- Report to General Counsel with Senior Counsel direct oversight
- Review, edit, and negotiate construction, architecture, and design-build contracts
- Review, edit, and negotiate contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and various other vendors and clients, including for example, subcontracts, purchase orders, NDAs, software agreements, lender consents, and leases
- Field questions from project teams, analyze risk, help think through issues and map out course moving forward that mitigates risk, limits liability, and otherwise promotes and protects Beck’s interests
- Assist with corporate governance and licensing
- Work closely with Risk department to navigate insurance claims and coverages
- Work with AI platform and other technologies to enhance output and add efficiencies

The ideal candidate will have a service first attitude and willingness to assist our project teams with an array of legal services. The right candidate will be able to skillfully manage their time and keep their work organized. They will also be comfortable being pulled in multiple directions at once and manage expectations of requesting parties and deliver quality service in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from accredited school
- Licensed to practice law in any US State, with ability to become licensed in Texas
- At least 2 years of construction law experience preferred. The following would be a plus:
- Litigation and transactional experience
- Law firm and in-house experience
- Proficiency with computers and typical software, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Affinity for contract review, editing, and negotiation, with sufficient knowledge and experience to handle independently from start to finish (although support will be available)
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to sit, stand, and move about the office and occasionally visit project sites; frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment; communicates with Beck personnel, outside counsel, opposing counsel, subcontractors, vendors, and others; ability to adhere to timely and consistent attendance; some travel required, typically to Beck regional offices.
