Job Description

Company Overview

SimpleClosure is a California based, venture backed company aiming to simplify the complex task of shutting down a business. Tailor-made for startups: bootstrapped and venture-backed companies, we handle all closure-related tasks, including state paperwork, board resolutions and investor distributions. Our expertise lies in streamlining the process, cutting down clutter, and making the process of dissolving a business as smooth as possible for our customers.

Job Overview

As a Legal Operations Associate (Onboarding Specialist) at SimpleClosure, you will play a critical role in guiding new clients through one of the most important transitions in their business lifecycle: dissolution. You’ll act as the primary point of contact during onboarding, ensuring clients feel supported while navigating complex legal and regulatory requirements. This role blends client-facing communication with operational execution — reviewing legal documents, coordinating with regulators, and ensuring each step of the closure process is accurate and compliant.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for new clients, guiding them through the onboarding process and ensuring accurate data collection.

  • Review and interpret legal and regulatory documents (e.g., incorporation records, state forms) to support clients in providing correct information.

  • Host welcome calls and address client questions with professionalism, empathy, and clarity.

  • Coordinate with state agencies, regulators, and legal counsel to ensure timely and compliant account closures.

  • Maintain organized, accurate records of client dissolution activities and communications.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (Operations, Legal, Product) to ensure smooth processes and improve client experience.

  • Capture and refine workflows to enhance efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in a legal operations, paralegal, or client-facing role involving legal documents or compliance work.

  • Comfort reading and interpreting legal/regulatory documents (JD not required, but legal literacy essential).

  • Strong communication skills — able to explain complex processes in clear, approachable language.

  • Professional phone and videoconferencing presence; empathetic and client-focused.

  • High digital literacy; comfortable using SaaS platforms and learning new tools quickly.

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable in managing multiple clients/projects.

  • Experience in a fast-paced, startup environment is a plus.

What we offer
  • Compensation: $55,000 to $90,000

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Competitive equity package

  • Employer Covered Medical Benefits

  • Remote work

  • In person team retreat

Salary
  • $55,000 - $90,000
